Comcast Community Investment Application Grant Program Summary

Mission: The mission of the Comcast Community Panel is to evaluate and award funding grants submitted by any entity, organization or group, organized and operating exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary, educational purposes or to foster amateur sports competetion. (501(c)(3) classified)

Process: Those interested in being considered for the grants need to submit a detailed application found at http://www.comcastcommunity.com (This Site).

Applications will be received from any entity, organization or group based in, or providing services to, the North Florida communities where Comcast Cable provided its services prior to January 1, 2003. The Panel shall then review the applications and award grant(s) at its sole discretion.

Panel Selection: The Panel will consist of five (5) members who will serve one-year terms. Two of the members shall be nominated and appointed by Comcast Cable. The City of Jacksonville Mayor will nominate and appoint two (2) members. The President of the Jacksonville City Council shall nominate one (1) member who shall be ratified by the City Council.

Total Amount Available: One hundred-fifty thousand ($150,000) per year, beginning on June 1, 2004 and continuing through June 1, 2014.

Evaluation Criteria:The Comcast Community Panel will review all Grants that meet the panel's criteria.
Applications:The Panel will determine the benefits of each grant request and will determine which program(s) are to receive funding. The Panel's decisions shall be final.
Funding Cycle:Proposals will be reviewed once a year beginning January 1st. Proposals will be due on May 15th of each year. Approvals and denials will be finalized on June 1st of each year. Funds will be released on or about June 15th of each year.
Criteria 2012:
  • No Capital Projects
  • No religious institutions or schools unless the program is open to the community at large
  • All grant applications must be complete or the community panel reserves the right to reject the application
  • Project budgets must be attached to the application and submitted via email
  • Emphasis will be given to the geograhpic diversity

FOLLOW-UP REPORT AGREEMENT

All programs receiving funds are required to provide two reports that will summarize the program outcome and will detail how the funds/materials were used. The first report is due October 1st. The second report is due March 15th.

Should your grant request be approved you will be required to sign an agreement confirming that:

  • Your organization agrees to use the granted funds/materials exclusively for the designated purpose(s) as detailed in your proposal.
  • You agree to forward two Follow-Up reports of the program along with a financial accounting (including receipts) detailing how the funds/materials were actually utilized. The follow-up reports are due on October 1st and March 15th of the following year. The reports should detail the program's activities, successes/failures, the number of participants (ages, gender, and minorities participating). Also, if available, copies of promotional materials, press coverage, pictures, and media clippings, etc.
  • Your organization agrees to return to Comcast all funds/materials not used no later than March 31st.
  • If the Follow-Up report deadline (March 31st) is not met the money must be returned to Comcast by April 15th.
